Terms of Use

Preserve Food is a mobile application for capturing, managing and planning groceries, recipes and meals. Features may change or be discontinued over time.

The app is offered in a free basic version and a paid premium version („Preserve Food Pro“). Premium includes receipt scanning, photo scanning for automatic food recognition, and higher daily quotas for pantry analysis and AI-powered meal planning. Barcode scanning and managing your inventory, recipes and shopping lists are included in the free version.

Preserve Food Pro is offered as a monthly subscription. All purchases are processed exclusively through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.

The contractual partner for the purchase of the subscription is Apple Inc. (App Store) or Google LLC (Google Play). Their respective terms of use and sale apply in addition.

Preserve Food Pro currently costs $3.99 per month (as of May 14, 2026). Localized prices apply depending on App Store region; the applicable price is shown in the app and the store before purchase. Prices may change; changes will be communicated in the store before they take effect.

Payment will be charged to your Apple ID or Google account upon confirmation of purchase. The subscription automatically renews for the same period unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. The renewal will be charged within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period at the cost of the selected subscription option.

Subscriptions can be managed and cancelled at any time in the settings of your Apple ID or Google account. Cancellation directly with us is technically not possible.

With the completion of the purchase and the immediate provision of the digital content, the statutory right of withdrawal expires (§ 356(5) German Civil Code). Refund requests are processed exclusively by Apple or Google in accordance with their policies.

In addition to these Terms, your use of the Preserve Food app downloaded from the Apple App Store is governed by Apple's „Licensed Application End User License Agreement“ (Standard EULA), available at https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/.

Apple Inc. and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and are entitled to enforce them against end users.

In the event of a conflict between these Terms and Apple's Standard EULA, the Standard EULA prevails with respect to software-license matters (scope of license, maintenance, warranty, product claims, intellectual property, and legal compliance).

Certain features require a free user account. You must provide accurate information and keep your password confidential. You are responsible for all activity under your account.

The service may be used by persons aged 16 and over. Younger users need the consent of a parent or legal guardian.

You retain all rights to content you upload to the app (e.g. your own recipes, notes, photos). You grant us only the right to technically store and display this content to provide the app to you.

You are solely responsible for the content you upload. Uploading illegal, abusive or infringing content is prohibited.

When using the app you must not:

• use the service in ways that violate applicable law;
• disturb, overload or circumvent our technical infrastructure;
• misuse other people's accounts or use third-party credentials;
• run automated scripts (bots, scrapers) without our consent.

The app uses AI features powered by external providers (OpenAI, Perplexity). AI-generated content (e.g. recipe suggestions, texts) is created automatically and may be inaccurate, incomplete or misleading. It is not a substitute for nutritional, medical or other professional advice. You use AI results at your own risk and should independently verify them before making important decisions (e.g. regarding allergies, food intolerances or health-related topics).

All third-party content displayed in the app is used with the respective necessary rights.

We aim for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. Maintenance, technical issues or force majeure may cause temporary limitations.

You can terminate your account at any time via the „Delete account“ page. We reserve the right to suspend or delete accounts in case of serious or repeated breaches of these terms.

We are liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence and under the German Product Liability Act. For slight negligence we are only liable in case of breach of essential contractual duties and limited to typical, foreseeable damages. Any further liability is excluded.

We may amend these Terms where legally, technically or organisationally necessary. We will inform you about material changes by email or in the app; changes take effect on the date stated in the notice.

These Terms are governed by the law of the Federal Republic of Germany, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. For consumers this choice of law applies only insofar as mandatory consumer protection rules of their country of residence do not conflict.

Should any provision of these Terms be or become invalid, the validity of the remaining provisions remains unaffected.
